Bringing your Scarecrow to the Gala

Scare CrowWhen you bring your scarecrow to the gala on Saturday , please set it up in the Scarecrow Paddock which will be on the long side of the main marquee facing the gala field.  A hammer will be available to assist in knocking scarecrows in.

At the scarecrow paddock you will also find identification placards, please fill one in with your scarecrow's name and the name and age of the scarecrow builder and stick the placard in the ground in front of your scarecrow.

The Carnival Is Coming !!!!

Gala Poster 2009clown marfCome and celebrate the carnival atmosphere and join the festivities at the 2009 Catterline Gala !!!

We have Clown Circus Acts, The Great Hootini’s carnival of magic and the delights of our very own Petting Zoo.

The marquee will have all our fabulous local stalls as well as our world famous tea and cakes; raffles, free the fluffy; bottle stall; fancy dress competition and much, much more.

Outside we will have the scarecrows, barbecue, candy floss, the carties, kids races, tug of war, the duck chuck and fabby new bouncies including:

The Bungee Run; The Moonwalk and Bouncy Boxing

So come in your fancy carnival dress & join in the fun at the Catterline Gala Carnival !!!

Saturday 13th June 1:30pm till 4:30pm or wherever the fun takes us !!

The Catterline Carnival Scarecrow Competition

A Scare CrowENTRY DATE EXTENDED !!!!!

Due to popular demand the closing date for the Scarecrow Competition has been extended to teh day of the Gala Saturday 1th June. To enter simply bring your scarecrow along on the day, but don't forget to display it in your garden in the run up to the big day too !!!

If you are entering please email us at scarecrow@catterline.org so we can set aside space at the gala for the right numbers

Do you have a burning desire to wear dungarees ? Or make heads out of old pillow cases and broom handles ? 

Then Get your entry in for this year's exciting Gala Carnival Scarecrow competition !!

We are looking for entries in two categories: kids under 12 and kids over 12

You can make them up any shape or size and with any materials you want. Scarecrows will be judged on Gala Saturday up at the field with prizes for all the winners.

It's open to all and entry is free.... just download the rules below and enter by emailing scarecrow@catterline.org, and then get cracking on your scarecrow........ !!!!

Lost Carving Knife

A similar knife from the same set

A bone handled carving knife Anolon carving knife with a SureGripTM handle was lost after the gala ceilidh. It had been used for carving the hog roast and was left in the tent overnight. It disappeared some time on Sunday morning.

The knife has sentimental value, so could everyone please check their kitchen drawers and let us know if it turns up.

Gala Stalwarts Step Down

Tommy, Jillian, Stephen and Karen have all announced that they will be stepping down from the gala committee. Lynne, Gordon and Laura will all be staying on, and they are looking for volunteers to join the team and help to organise the 2009 Catterline Gala. If you are interested in getting involved in one of the highlights of the village year then please get in touch with any of the committee.

Next year's Gala Weekend will be held on 12th to 14th June 2009 - put it in your diary now!
