Your Community Council Needs You

Two Community Councillors stepped down from Catterline, Kinneff and Dunnottar Community Council at their AGM last Tuesday. Ian Duncan and Stephen Hall, who both joined at the same time in 2005 and who both held office bearer posts (Chairman and Secretary, respectively), did not seek re-election this year.

Aileen Swarbrick was elected to the Community Council to replace Stephen, but the Kinneff seat held by Ian stil remains vacant.

With several other councillors intimating that they wished to stand down next year, it seems likely that there will be more vacancies in the near future and a great opportunity for those interested in local affairs to get involved and help to influence Aberdeenshire Council.

Council Seeks Help from Community

Aberdeenshire Council have asked for assistance from Community Councils in identifying areas to be considered for inclusion in the next Local Development Plan, over and above those already proposed by developers and landowners. CKDCC will be discussing this at their next public meeting, on Tuesday 27th January at 7.30pm in Catterline School, so this would be a good opportunity to find out more about what is happening, what your options are to comment on the current proposals, and how you can influence how Catterline its surroundings are (or aren't) developed over the next 12 to 15 year.
