Catterline Cricketers Return Triumphant

Catterline's team in the Cricket Fun Day run by Stonehaven Thistle returned with honours today after an emphatic win in the Wooden Spoon match against Troupers.
The draw put us in the same group as two very strong teams - Hook & Eye and the Tennis Club. Despite getting off to a perfect start against Hook & Eye when Rob bowled their opening batsman with the first ball, they put on too big a total for us and we were quite comfortably beaten. Batting first against the Tennis Club we had our innings torn apart when a hat-trick removed our middle order, and we were again totally outclassed. This left us bottom of the group, and meant we had to face Troupers - the bottom team of the other group - to salvage the honour of the village.

Cricket Fun Day 2005

Catterline Clifftoppers Catterline's team for this year's Cricket Fun Day and Mineralwell park was comprised mainly of new and enthusiastic talent and we were unfortunate to come up against to strong teams in our opening games.
We were drawn in the same group as the Tennis Club (the defending champions), The Hookers and the Mums in Touch, and our first game was against the Hookers.
Brendan call the toss correctly and we chose to bat, hoping to put up a good total to put the team from the Hook and Eye under pressure from the start. The first part of the plan worked reasonably well and we posted a total of over 60, which is not bad for a six over innings. Unfortunately our bowling and fielding wasn’t up to defending the score, and the hookers won in the fifth over of their innings, with 4 wickets in hand.
Our second game was slightly easier, as it was against the women and children of Mums in Touch.
