Tour de Catterline

Tour de Catterline

The Tour de Catterline is planned for Saturday the 29th.  The bike ride is, a not-for profit, non-competitive event organised by the villagers, which aims to raise money each year for a charity.  This year all entry fees and donations will be given to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
You have a choice of routes: 35 or 50 miles or a 10 mile family-friendly option.  Maps showing the route are attached and will be available at the start of the ride.  We do not have signage up on the route and we also don’t have a huge number of riders so if you don’t know the route it will be worth having a map in case you get separated from the group you are riding with.
There will be some drinks and snacks available at the start of the ride thanks to ScotMid Cooperative in Inverbervie.  Riders should arrive ahead of their start time at Catterline Primary School.   Sign in is required prior to departure and when you get back from the ride so we can confirm that everyone is safely back (we will take your mobile phone numbers and next of kin details at registration).  Riders should aim to be self supported, however, if anyone has a mechanical or similar and needs a lift home or assistance they can call John on 07958 387079 who has offered to provide support if needed.
The aim of the ride is for everyone to finish around the same time ~2:30pm at the Creel Inn.  This of course depends on the distance you are riding and the speed of your group.  The slowest groups leave first and the fastest last.  We typically have people leaving at 10:30 or 11.30am for the 35 mile route and 9:30, 10.30 or 11.30am for the 50 mile route.  We think the family friendly ride should leave at 12 noon - but if you are a particularly rapid family you may want to leave later.   For the family friendly route we ask that there is an adult riding with every child.
When everyone returns we will have a short prize giving (prizes are randomly assigned and have little to do with biking prowess, prizes donated by Bike Remedy of Stonehaven) and will then go into the Creel who have kindly offered to provide some soup for riders.
Advanced entry is preferred to avoid work on the day.  If you have not done so already please send a cheque for £10 made out to "Marie Curie Cancer Care" and mail or drop a cheque round to Kryenbye, Catterline, AB39 2UN (kids are free).  For further information or if you have other questions please contact me on tel. 01569 750893 or by e-mail.
The weather forecast is looking good for Saturday so hopefully it will be a good day out!
