Loch Venachar Freshwater Sprints

the little bustardWe’re planning to take the Spirit of Catterline in the Freshwater Sprints at Loch Venachar (near Callander) on Saturday 26th October. This regatta is a very accessible event and a good introduction to racing, and is aimed at new rowers and clubs. There are several different classes (men, women, mixed, novice, juniors, etc). We’d love to involve as many people as we can and we are hoping we’ll find enough people to make up more than one crew, as well as a substantial band of supporters.

Fishing Communities of Angus and the Mearns

Following a highly success launch on Saturday 27th July at Montrose Library, of the book "Fishing Communities of Angus and the Mearns", by David Adams, the Maggie Law Maritime Museum is pleased to announce that it has been chosen to be a retail outlet for the book.

The detailed research of David Adams, and the skilfully crafted editorial and completion of this work by Gillian Zealand, and published by David Henry, Pinkfoot Press, Brechin, brings together the rich maritime history of Angus and the Mearns.

The Museum are delighted to be able to work and promote joint interest between the Museum and David Hendry as a publisher for a tremendous piece of heritage about our past and present fishing communities in our local area.

This publication adds another detailed piece of research and knowledge into the maritime heritage of our local area.
