Catterline Cartie Grand Slam

Monymusk Cairtie Race "Once a fortnight is plenty" achieved the superb feat of winning the Monymusk Cairtie Race today to complete the "2006 Grand Slam" of North East Cartie Races.
Monymusk is quite a different event to Catterline; the course is 3.2 miles long, and has a very steep first section of perhaps three quarters of a mile, followed by over two miles of rough ground, tracks and fields. Some parts of it are up hill, and the carties need to be pushed nearly all the way. The speedo on the Tequila Slammer showed 33.2 mph as the maximum speed in the first section (and it would've been quicker if I hadn't hit a bale half way down Embarassed).
Once a fortnight's time of 19 minutes and 28 seconds was exceptionally quick and made them the clear winners, and they also picked up the prize for the best named cartie. Tequila Slammer's time was rather slower, but it still managed to take the "Best Design" prize. The Slammer crossed the line in about 24 minutes, but one of the team members had developed stitch on the way down so crossed the line several minutes later. He was, however, awarded a consolation prize for his efforts - 5 litres of Mackies Ice-cream!

nice photos - I think, however, that the back of my head is probably not my best side. It might be time I went for your haircut.
